The finishing of the edge of stone blades is a typical manual, time-consuming operation.
OD Flex Edge Finishing is a fast, cost-effective alternative with an amazing tight finishing quality.

OD Flex Border Finishing

Border finishing is often performed by strong calibrating machines in a separate production step. OD Flex Border Finishing in combination with Edge Finishing gives the opportunity to combine both operations in one production step. Up to 40mm border thickness is polished quickly, cost effectively and with a finishing quality to the highest standards.

Economics

Manual edge finishing takes 6 to 7 minutes per meter. OD Flex Edge Finishing performs the operation in 0.5 minutes per meter.  Additionally the robot also covers for the handling. This results in a very profitable return on investment (ROI). Because of the high capacity of the installation, the ROI mainly depends on the production volumes and the logistic organisation of the customer. Small to medium volumes are perfectly covered by a stand-alone implementation while for higher volumes a line integration is suitable.

Proven technology

OD Flex Edge Finishing and OD Flex Border Finishing have been developed in cooperation with Erbi and KGS. The know-how of Optidrive, Erbi and KGS together was an enormous advantage during the development, which took more than thousand  testing-hours. The process conditions have been worked out into the finest details. OD Flex Edge Finishing has and still is finishing daily many meters to the satisfaction of the customers.

Optidrive is specialized in robotic surface finishing.  Optidrive installs robotic automation systems for applications such as Grinding, Disk Grinding, Cup Wheel Grinding, Glass Edge Grinding, Sanding, Wet Sanding, Deburring, Deflashing, Plastic Deflashing, Polishing, Wheel Polishing, Weld shaving (Weld Beam Removal), Chamfering, Drilling and Reaming.
Optidrive represents the products of Pushcorp in Europe.  This product line includes Active Force Control Devices (AFD1000, and AFD1100), Active Force Compliance Wet Sanders (AFD1200), Passive Force Control Devices (AFD50, AFD70, and AFD80), Active Force Controllers (FCU1000), Disk Managers (DM100), Backstands (SBS80), Servo Tool Changers (STC1503, STC0605, and STC0610), High Speed Servo Motors (SM3002, and SM1503), High Torque Servo Motors (SM0605, and SM0610), Weld Shavers (SWS100-1.2, and SWS100-3.7), and Dual Shaft Servo Stands (SS70, and SS80). This equipment meets or exceeds the performance of similar equipment from Speedeburr, FlexiBurr, UltiBurr, Columbo Motors, IBAG Motors, Precise Motors, Setco Motors, and Pope Motors.  Optidrive also distributes equipment from Colombo, Amtru, Mannesman Demag (Robocut) and Orbitool (Deburring of cross-drilled holes).  Optidrive works with Kuka robots but the equipment can be installed on any robot from ABB, Daihen, Fanuc, Kawasaki, Kuka, Motoman, Nachi, Panasonic, and Staubli. Optidrive has worked for alphaplan, siemens, tyco, barco, asco, eads, vasco, wartsila (Lips), van de wiele, demeyere, art casting, ferrari and many others.  The automated solutions of Optidrive meets or exceeds the performance of similar solutions form Mape , SHL automatisierung, Valk welding.
